RENO -- January 18, 2013—As the number of influenza cases in the US and Nevada continue to rise, many citizens have still not received their annual flu vaccination. To help take
the guesswork out of where to find a vaccine, Immunize Nevada is updating www.influencenevada.org daily with current information about locations throughout the state
reporting ample flu vaccine supplies. The site is updated in both English and Spanish. The same
information is available on the organization’s Facebook page, at www.facebook.com/immunizenevada

“We regularly track clinics throughout the flu season and publicize current influenza information through our various communications channels including our website and Facebook page,” said Heidi Parker, Executive Director, Immunize Nevada. “However, with the early spike in influenza cases, we have extended our efforts to include a database of flu vaccine locations throughout the state. We hope this saves people time and helps them connect with providers who still have vaccine supplies available.”

Currently, most Nevada public health offices in the state including the Southern Nevada Health District, Washoe County Health District, Carson City Health District Douglas County Health District, and community health nurses throughout rural Nevada are reporting flu vaccine supplies. In addition, many private providers have expressed a willingness to open their doors to new patients and walk-in patients to help assure that flu vaccines are being administered to those who have yet to get a vaccine. Many pharmacies are also reporting that they have vaccine, however stock varies on a daily basis. All providers suggest calling to confirm supply prior to making a trip.

“We want people to know that there is still vaccine available throughout Nevada but it might take a little extra digging to find a location that meets your needs,” adds Parker. “We hope our Facebook page and website make it a little easier for everyone.”
