Charles “Chuck” Reno is a Reno native and a 5th generation Nevadan.
Growing up, Chuck attended many of the Ward 1 Washoe County schools including: Hunter Lake, Jessie Beck, Swope and Reno High. Chuck received an Associates of Arts degree in Architecture from Truckee Meadows Community College and went on to the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) where he received two Bachelors degrees; a Bachelors of General Studies and a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering. Chuck is a board certified Professional Civil Engineer (PE). In addition, he is a Water Rights Surveyor (WRS) in Nevada.
Currently, he is a Project Manager at Farr West Engineering, where he designs and oversees million dollar engineering projects. As a project manager, Chuck deals with budgets daily and as a designer, he studies each project and comes up with cost effective and creative solutions. Through his engineering career, Chuck has a long history of interacting with the City of Reno; he has presented to many City Neighborhood Advisory Boards, the City of Reno Planning Commission and the Reno City Council. He currently serves as a Commissioner on the City of Reno Historic Resources Commission, which oversees historic preservation throughout the entire City. Additionally, he serves on the City of Reno Northwest Neighborhood Advisory Board, which advises the City Council on items related to portions of Ward 1 and Ward 5.
As a former Project Engineer at CSA Inc. Engineers, Chuck helped in the design of the City of Reno Downtown Plaza (Ice Rink on the River) located at the old Mapes site. Chuck has designed commercial complexes and residential subdivisions in the City of Reno; he understands city regulations, codes and zoning as well as city governmental structure.
Chuck has been married for 13 years. His wife Kristina, attended McQueen High School and also attended UNR where she received a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management. They have 3 young children, all of which attend a local elementary school.
Chuck is the 4th child of 11 children and grew up in two areas of Ward 1; one near Mayberry Drive and the other near Skyline Boulevard. He, along with his 10 brothers and sisters, all attended Reno High School. He has seen how Ward 1 has changed over the years, and he has also seen how it still is very much the same; to him Ward 1 seems timeless. Chuck understands there are many families who have deep roots in Ward 1, and for very good reasons. Preservation of the quality of life for Ward 1 families will always be foremost on his mind, as a member of the Council.
Why Chuck Reno for Reno City Council?
Optimism and vision for a better tomorrow is surely required and justified. The Reno area is unique in its appeal to many people and the City Council can be instrumental in encouraging people, not only to come and visit, but to have a desire to live here. The Council can be instrumental in relocating businesses here and bringing with them high paying sustainable jobs.
Chuck believes that he can provide the required leadership for growth as a member of the Reno City Council. The Ward 1 City Council position is non-partisan. Ward 1 has a diverse population. Chuck can appeal to all people in the Ward, because he knows how it is to be raised in Ward 1 and to raise a family in Ward 1. He wants nothing more than to protect the beauty, lifestyle and community that exist in the Ward. Both Chuck and Kris believe that given all the places in the world to live - Reno is where they want to be. Reno has it all, from amazing community events, such as the Rodeo, Hot August Nights and the Balloon Races to world class education from UNR.
Chuck is running for Ward 1 for many reasons. He feels strongly that the City requires knowledgeable leadership. The City has many great opportunities to grow and serve the citizens more fully. The City also has many fiscal challenges. With his knowledge and direction, Chuck feels that he can fill the essential leadership role and bring a unique perspective to the City Council and be a good steward of the public funds.
Please contact Chuck with your concerns for Ward 1 and for the City of Reno. He wants to hear from you and help in any way he can.
