The Nevada Highway Patrol will be staffing additional troopers on duty this Sunday and Monday to provide assistance for the church services scheduled for Senator William J. Raggio at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Reno.  Troopers, along with personnel from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and the Reno Police Department, will be part of the multi-agency motorcade procession on both days as they guide the funeral coach from Walton’s Funeral Home to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

Motorists can expect intermittent ramp closures on Interstate 80 at the Keystone Avenue and Sierra Street interchanges as the funeral coach departs Walton’s Funeral Home on both days.  Also, with the large volume of traffic expected on South Virginia Street near Bishop Manogue High School, we will have additional troopers and personnel from other law enforcement agencies guiding and controlling traffic in the area prior to and immediately following the services each day.

We are asking all attendees to utilize McCabe Drive and park in the adjacent high school parking lot as Bishop Manogue Drive will have limited access that day.  We have been told that students attending Bishop Manogue High School will be released at 11:00 am on Monday to allow more parking for the funeral mass scheduled for 2:00 pm.

The preferred route we would like motorists attending the services on either or both days is to proceed southbound on S. Virginia Street and make a right-hand turn onto McCabe Drive.  Once the parking area is full we will be blocking off the entrance to McCabe Drive.
