17 businesses cited for selling alcohol to minors

RENO -- A joint effort by law enforcement agencies put out an operation to make sure local businesses are not selling alcohol to minors.

On May 11th and May 14th, 2012, The Regional Street Enforcement Team (SET) conducted underage alcohol sales compliance checks throughout the Reno area.  Underage decoys were sent in to businesses in an attempt to purchase alcoholic beverages.  A total of 59 businesses were checked.  Out of these 59, 17 failed.

The Reno Police Department is partnered with Join Together Northern Nevada (JTNN).  JTNN works with it's partners in reducing underage drinking in our community.  Funds for the compliance checks were obtained through an enforcing underage drinking laws grant.
