RENO -- A boil water order is being issued for an area of southwest Reno following a loss of system pressure earlier Tuesday that impacted more than a dozen homes in the Roseview Lane area. The temporary loss of system pressure included both gas and water lines. Those utilities have been restored. A County water crew inadvertently damaged a gas main while investigating a water leak. Both systems had to be shut down to facilitate repairs.
The boil order will remain in effect until satisfactory laboratory results are obtained. The Washoe County Community Services Department will initiate water quality sampling. Lab results are expected Thursday, March 21st. Residents in the area will receive a notice when water is confirmed to be safe. Customers should boil their drinking water for 10 minutes before drinking or cooking.
