A Gardnerville woman who had been lost in the Sierra wilderness is recovering from injuries, but safe, thanks to her brother's refusal to abandon the search for her.

Last night at around 8:30P.M, Alpine County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Paula Lane had been located near Highway 88/89.  Paula was alive and found walking on the main highway.

She was transported to Carson/Tahoe regional hospital where she was treated for severe hypothermia but didn't have any injuries believed to be life-threatening.

Reports are that a second person was also located.  However, as of this morning authorities have not confirmed the identity of the second person nor can they comment on the condition of that person.

Details are that Paula and her boyfriend Roderick Clifton's vehicle became stuck in the snow while driving on Burnside Road near Highway 88/89.  Authorities believe the couple slept inside their vehicle for at least one day.

Initial reports are that Roderick left the vehicle to seek help.  However, Roderick never returned to the vehicle. Paula eventually left the vehicle to seek help.

Due to the location in the mountains, Paula and Roderick had not received cell reception.

There had been a continued search by members of the California Highway Patrol, El Dorado Sheriff’s Department, Alpine County Sheriff’s Department, and members of Paula and Roderick’s families.  The search was conducted by vehicle, on foot, and in the air.  The air search had been recently grounded due poor weather conditions.  However, the family continued their search and Paula's brother ultimately was able to locate her as she was walking on the main highway.
