Declaration of local emergency terminated

 

SPARKS --  Mayor Martini and the Sparks City Council have terminated the Sparks Local Emergency.

The City of Sparks approved a state of Emergency on November 30, 2012 as a result of the extreme peril to the safety of persons caused by severe weather including high winds, heavy rain, and significant flooding in rivers streams, ditches.  It was anticipated that such events may result in severe flooding, landslides, disruption of utility services, disruption of travel, damage to property, and threat to the safety of persons.

The State of Emergency was terminated at 7:00pm on Sunday, December 2.  At that time, the City demobilized its Emergency Operations Center and began recovery operations.  Public Safety resources were in place through the night. 

The City of Sparks would like to thank our Emergency Management partners for their active participation in the disaster preparations and operational activities.
