Grant awared to help police with safety enforcement

RENO -- On October 1st, 2012, The Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety awarded the Reno Police Department $62,000 in federal grant funds to continue the National Campaign known as "Joining Forces".  This money will be used to conduct safety enforcement events throughout the City of Reno.

The 11 "Joining Forces" events scheduled for the federal fiscal year 2012-2013 will focus Officers efforts on seat belt usage, pedestrian safety, distracted driving, speeding, and the dangers of driving under the influence.  The Reno Police Department shares the same goal as the other 28 participating law enforcement agencies of "Zero Fatalities"!

This nationwide campaign aims to reduce serious injuries, death, and property damage associated with traffic collisions.  Law enforcement agencies "Join Forces" during each event to combat traffic safety issues throughout Nevada.  By working together, they have a greater impact on roadway safety.
