Memorial service held for JK Metzker

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Friends and family held a memorial service in Reno to remember a 41-year-old TV sports director killed in a hit-and-run crash after covering a Wolf Pack football game last week.

The service for JT Metzker was held this afternoon at Our Lady of the Snows church.

Police say Metzker died after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a busy street late Saturday near the University of Nevada, Reno football stadium. He had just covered the Nevada-Hawaii game.

Police say 23-year-old Ryan Rhea of Sparks was arrested on a felony hit-and-run causing death charge.

Metzker worked at KTVN Channel 2 for 14 years.

He leaves behind his wife, Jaimie, and three young sons.

KTVN has set up an account through Wells Fargo Banks for donations to JK Metzker's family. The name of the account is the 'Metzker Family fund' (acct #5867974627) and iss open at all Wells Fargo locations and .

Silver Blue Outfitters store at the Meadowood mall is also honoring his memory. From now until Christmas, they will match 10% of all donations.

Donations will also be accepted at their four locations at Mackay Stadium, during Wolf Pack games.

Their goal is to raise $50,000 in donations to add to the Metzker Family Fund.
