From March 20 through April 8 Nevada Humane Society is waiving adoption fees for big-hearted people who will give “Less-Adoptable, but Still Lovable” pets a caring home.
Some homeless cats and dogs have a harder time getting adopted. Some are shy or extremely energetic, others older, some are a bit sassy, and a few have special needs. These pets may be considered to be less-adoptable, but they are still lovable and they need your help.
This promotion was designed to draw attention to special animals that tend to stay at the shelter longer simply because of their age, personality, or medical condition.
“Our average stay for dogs and cats at the shelter is quite low which means some animals get adopted in one day, while others are here longer,” explains Diane Blankenburg, Community Programs Director for Nevada Humane Society. “Because we have so many highly adoptable animals, other pets get overlooked because they may be a little shy or are a bit older. We hope this promotion will provide an incentive for people to give these special animals a second look and see past whatever issues they may have to the lovable pets we know they are.”
During this promotion, any animal that has a special promotional paw sticker can be adopted free of charge from March 20-April 8. Additionally, adopters will receive a free pet water fountain, donated courtesy of Veterinary Ventures, for their new furry friend.
All dogs and cats are spayed and neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before being adopted. These services would normally cost over $200.
To give one of these special pets the home they deserve, visit Nevada Humane Society located at 2825 Longley Lane in Reno. The shelter is open daily for adoptions from 11:00 am until 6:30 pm and an hour earlier on Saturday at 10:00 am. For more information, call 775-856-2000 or visit www.nevadahumanesociety.org.
