CARSON CITY -- Law authorities are investigating the deaths of 2 women who were found this morning.

This morning at around 8:30, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office was informed that two persons had been discovered in Voltaire Canyon, approximately one half mile from nearby residences and appeared to be dead.  Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and found two adult female Native Americans, both deceased.

Investigators on scene have determined both victims had suffered gunshot wounds and a weapon was located.  A vehicle in the immediate proximity of the scene was determined to be registered to a local address, but not owned by either of the victims.

Although the area of the occurrence is not within the boundaries of the nearby tribal land mass, Washoe Tribal Police were called to the area to assist in the initial investigation.

 The names of the victims are being withheld at this time.
