CARSON CITY-- An overnight earthquake that struck Sierra Nevada about 90 miles northeast of Sacramento was also felt in the local area.

A 4.7 earthquake struck at 11:37 p.m., 23 miles north of Truckee. The quake originally measured 5.2 by U.S. Geological Service, but was downgraded to 4.8 shortly afterward, and they now say it was 4.7.

An earthquake also shook San Francisco this morning. The U.S. Geological Survey says it hit around 5:36 a.m.  and was centered about a mile east of Berkeley.

There were a few aftershocks, including a 2.5 and 2.4 soon after the main quake, and this morning there was a 1.4 aftershock.
