RENO – It has been almost one year since Mario Sepulveda, along with 32 of his mining comrades, were rescued after the San Jose Mine collapsed while they were working 620 meters under-ground. After 70 days of darkness, the miners were saved through an unprecedented united mission of nations and individuals. Sepulveda has since dedicated his life to social work in Chile and gives motivational speeches all over the world.

On Tuesday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium in the Davidson Mathematics and Science Building, Sepulveda will share his journey, “Mario Sepulveda: A Personal Story of Surviving Against All Odds”, with over 450 students and community members. Sepulveda’s story showcases the strength of the human spirit and the positive outcomes that can come from teamwork and determination. Through his speeches, Sepulveda delivers a message of global cooperation and building trust to overcome adversity.

Sepulveda will give a smaller presentation to Reno’s Spanish-speaking community on Monday, October 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Neil Road Recreation Center – 3925 Neil Road.
