Washoe County senior services presents 'Medicare and Me' Nov. 7

RENO -- The Washoe County Senior Services Department will present a free special event this Wednesday, November 7, for seniors and their families who need help enrolling in Medicare.

Washoe County residents will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about Medicare Open Enrollment and Part D plan options
  • Get tips on how to detect, prevent and report Medicare fraud and abuse
  • Learn about other programs and services that may be beneficial

“Between now and December 7, people who have Medicare can change their health plan and Medicare Part D provider,” said Senior Services Director Grady Tarbutton. “This can be confusing, because health plans are allowed to change their coverage by Medicare.”

Participants will receive advice and counsel from experts trained on Medicare choices. These experts will answer questions, review individual options and assist seniors in changing their medical coverage.

The event will take place from 9 am to 12 pm at Washoe County Senior Services, 1155 E. Ninth Street (9th and Sutro), Reno, NV.

Pre-registration is requested to ensure all consumers are accommodated. To pre-register for the event, please call (775) 328-2575.

This event is sponsored by Washoe County Senior Services, the Aging and Disability Resource Center, Nevada’s Care Connection, Access to Health Care Network’s SHIP program and the Nevada Senior Medicare Patrol. For more information, visit www.washoecounty.us/seniorsrv.
