RENO -- With the snow storm that fell and forecast of more to come, this weekend is shaping up to be good for people planning to hit the slopes and exceptionally busy for winter sports stores.
According to the National Weather Service, in the Lake Tahoe area 2 to 4 feet of additional snow, on top of the 1.5 to 2 feet already received from earlier storms, is expected by the Thursday afternoon and it looks like more is coming this weekend. Although this might seem like bad news for commuters, it's just what skiers and snowboarders want to hear.
With winter finally arriving, ski resorts are able to open more terrain. That and the fact that fresh snow is falling, makes it great for skiers and snowboarders.
This good news for skiers/snowboarders also means good news for winter sport stores who had been hurting bad from an unusual warm winter and the absence of snow. Local stores are are trying to buckle down business before the season is over.
