Reid meets with representatives from Nevada Food Banks

WASHINGTON, DC -- Nevada Senator Harry Reid met Monday with representatives from the Food Bank of Northern Nevada in Sparks and Three Square Food Bank in Las Vegas to discuss the potential impact of the sequester on Nevada food banks and state nutrition programs.

“I was pleased to learn more about the significant contributions that the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and the Three Square Food Bank make in our Nevada communities,” Reid said. “It’s a shame that because of Republican inaction, the so-called sequester will take a toll on food pantries and nutrition programs which put meals on tables in Nevada and across the nation. Congress has the power to avoid these self-inflicted wounds and ensure this doesn’t harm Nevada families. But Democrats can’t do it alone.  I am committed to the fight against hunger, and I will continue to support programs that work to feed seniors and Nevada families in need.”
