RENO -- A man is dead as a result of a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident that occurred last night on Kietzke Lane.
Last night at around 10:30 p.m., officers from the Reno Police Department responded to Kietzke Lane & Gentry Way on a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident. Police learned that the vehicle was traveling northbound on Kietzke Lane when it struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was in a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision. It is unknown who had the right of way, although the driver of the vehicle claimed to have a green light.
The pedestrian, a 55-year-old Reno resident, was transported to Renown Medical Facility where he died from his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old Reno resident, was not injured. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
The Reno Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team is currently investigating the accident. Anyone with information in regards to this case is urged to contact the Reno Police Department Traffic Division at 334-2141 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
