RENO -- A Sacramento man is dead in a vehicle rollover crash on Sunday night in which alcohol is believed to have been a factor.

Last evening shortly after 10:00 pm, troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol were dispatched to a single- vehicle rollover crash north of Reno near the Red Rock interchange.  The preliminary crash investigation details indicate a gray 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV was traveling south on US 395 approaching the Red Rock interchange.  The driver allowed his vehicle to drift off the right edge of the highway when the SUV rolled over down a dirt embankment and across both lanes of North Virginia Street.  The SUV came to rest on its wheels facing north near the west edge of the two-lane street just north of Copperfield Drive.

North Virginia Street parallels US 395 and is also referred as Old US 395.  No other vehicles were involved in the event.

The driver and sole occupant of the SUV, 54-year-old Ken W. Rodgers of Sacramento, was ejected and sustained fatal injuries in the crash.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene my medical personnel.

Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in the tragedy in addition to Rodgers not wearing a seat belt.

Witnesses or anyone with addition information is encouraged to contact him at (775) 689-4625 regarding case number NHP-130202102.
