SPARKS -- Due to a citizen complaint, the Sparks Police Department is stepping up its enforcement activities at the roundabouts in the area of the Legends shopping area.
The main complaint is that people entering the roundabout from E. Lincoln coming from Sparks Blvd are not yielding to the traffic in the roundabout causing near miss traffic incidents with vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians. This issue appears to be worse for the vehicles who are in the 2nd and 3rd travel lane coming into the roundabout.
Drivers are reminded that the traffic inside the roundabouts in the City of Sparks have the right of way. Traffic coming into a roundabout must yield regardless of which travel lane they are in. Drivers not yielding the right of way could be cited for the violation.
The fine for the violation is currently $150 and will result in four demerits on your driving record.
