SPARKS -- A man is dead and a suspect on the lose as a result of a hit and run accident yesterday on Sparks Boulevard.
Yesterdayafternoon at around 4, Sparks Police recieved a phone call from a resident saying she heard a loud "pop," and then someone screaming in the area of Sparks Boulevard and Express. Officers began checking the area and found a male deceased on the dirt shoulder of the southbound lanes of Sparks Boulevard, just south of the Express Street.
It appears the male pedestrian was walking north on Sparks Boulevard, close to the fog line when he was struck.
Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the vehicle and driver. They report the body color as being pearl white and there should be damage to the right front and front center of the vehicle, and it had a charcoal colored bug guard that is mostly or all gone now, and the windshield is probably cracked or shattered. They also believe that the vehicle was either a car or SUV, and not a larger or tall vehicle.
A fluid trail was followed into the Sparky's parking lot, but we lost it there.
If anyone saw something resembling this, or recognizes a vehicle matching the color and damage described, they are asking them to call Sparks Detectives at 353-2225 or Secret Witness.
