SPARKS -- The Sparks Police Department is asking for everyone's cooperation with the closing of Sparks Blvd south of I-80 as traffic delays are expected.
The closure will result in residents not being able to access E. Greg from Sparks Blvd. This is a heavily traveled intersection during commute times and those driver's will be pushed to other surface streets and the freeway. This closure is effective starting the evening of March 4th, but most people will not encounter an issue until Tuesday morning the 5th. If you normally use Sparks Blvd to get onto E. Greg, please think of an alternate route before Tuesday morning. If you use E. Greg to get to work, please be aware that traffic will be restricted in both directions to one lane. This closure could add around 10 minutes to your commute.
For the driver's that don't use Sparks Blvd or E. Greg, you can expect to see an increase in traffic volume on Vista, E. Prater, McCarran, and I-80. This increase in traffic may cause your commute to be longer. Sparks PD urge drivers to please allow extra time for your commute starting Tuesday morning the 5th. The closure is expected to last until late July.
The Sparks Police Department will have patrols in the area, to monitor the traffic and take enforcement action. They are encouraging all motorists that frequently use Sparks Blvd, Vista, E. Prater, McCarran, and I-80 in the area of Sparks Blvd, to be aware of this closure and to drive with patience and allow extra time for their commutes.
