NFL Preseason Preview - Oakland (1-0) At Tennessee (1-0)

POSTED: 9:07 am PDT August 12, 2008

(Sports Network) - A couple of teams seeking to build off of strong preseason openers will convene at LP Field on Friday night, when the Tennessee Titans play host to the Oakland Raiders.

The Titans kicked off their preseason with a 34-13 takedown of the St. Louis Rams, matching the highest point total in the league during the opening warm- up week.

Quarterback Vince Young (3-of-6, 17 yards) played sparingly, but did amass 35 of the team's whopping total of 340 rushing yards on a first-quarter scramble.

Quinton Ganther rushed eight times for 115 yards and two touchdowns in the win, and rookie Chris Johnson (1st Round, East Carolina) made his presence felt with a dazzling 66-yard touchdown run in which he went untouched.

Kicker Rob Bironas (groin) and tight end Dwayne Blakley (groin) are among the Titans not slated to see action on Friday, while wideout Roydell Williams (ankle) and cornerback Nick Harper (concussion) are considered questionable at this stage.

Seeking to stop a Titans attack that racked up the most total offense in the league during Week 1 is a Raiders defense that was especially stingy in its preseason opener.

Oakland, which ranked 26th in NFL scoring defense a year ago, held the Bay Area rival 49ers out of the end zone for all four quarters in an 18-6 win.

The Raiders forced four turnovers in the victory, including interceptions from safety Hiram Eugene and cornerback Stanford Routt.

Offensively, the Silver and Black got a long first look at first-round draft choice Darren McFadden, who rushed 12 times for 48 yards in the win.

Starting quarterback JaMarcus Russell was just 2-of-5 passing for 13 yards, but should see more extensive action against the Titans.

Slated to make his debut with the Raiders on Friday is veteran safety Adam Archuleta, who was signed earlier this week and will reportedly be tried out at the linebacker position.

Kicker Sebastian Janikowski (leg) is among the most significant Oakland players not expected to be available on Friday.

The Raiders hold a 5-4 advantage in their all-time preseason series against the Titans, but were 24-14 road losers in the last such meeting, prior to the 2002 campaign.

Oakland visited Tennessee during the 2007 regular season, going home a 13-9 loser on Oct. 28th.
