Canucks Visit Blue Jackets

(Sports Network) - The Vancouver Canucks will try to avoid their longest losing streak in over a month, as they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight at Nationwide Arena.

The Canucks have dropped two straight and are coming off Thursday's shutout loss in Boston. Another setback this evening will give Vancouver its first three-game skid since November 9-14.

The Bruins earned the 2-0 victory last night, as Tim Thomas recorded his first shutout of the season with 39 saves. Dany Sabourin made 17 saves for the Canucks, who lost despite outshooting the Bruins, 39-19. Vancouver also took all 14 shots in the final period.

Tonight marks the third stop in a four-game road trip for the Canucks, who are just 6-10-1 as the visiting club.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets are coming off a shutout loss of their own, as they were defeated, 5-0, in Detroit on Wednesday. Dominik Hasek stopped 27 shots to help the Red Wings earn a split in the home-and-home series. Columbus defeated Detroit, 4-3, in Columbus on Monday.

Fredrik Norrena only managed to stop 17-of-22 shots for the Blue Jackets on Wednesday and was pulled early in the third period. Ty Conklin finished the game in net, stopping all three shots he faced.

The Canucks are 2-0 against the Blue Jackets this year and have won four straight and seven of the last nine meetings overall.
