Located in Downtown Columbus, Ohio; The Ohio Theatre was built by the Lowe's Theatre chain as a movie palace in 1928. The palace featured a Spanish Baroque style with 2,779 seats. In addition to films, the Ohio Theatre hosted several theatrical performances as well. By the sixties, the theatre went into disarray and was closed in 1969. A local firm purchased the building with the hopes of converting the historic site into an office building. However, the community rallied to save the site and a grassroots effort was able to prevent demolition.

The Ohio Theatre was completely renovated and restored in the '70s and was reopened. It has subsequently become home to the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the Columbus Opera. Additionally, The Ohio Theatre hosts traveling Broadway troupes and the BalletMet. Stay on top of the busy Ohio Theatre performance schedule.
