Updated: 11:10 a.m. EDT May 19, 2003 LAS VEGAS -- A decade or more from now there may be a huge airport about 25 miles south of Vegas, but for now if you're flying into the city you're stuck with one choice: McCarran International Airport. The good news is that McCarran is one of the most convenient and well-planned airports I've ever used -- about a mile from The Strip, lots of handy moving sidewalks and trams, large and usually quick baggage claim, and slot machines. Don't forget the slot machines. But as with most major airports, it can be a bit confusing if you've never been there, which is part of what makes the all new McCarran International Airport Web site, McCarran.com, so cool. You can go online and find out everything you wanted to know about the airport, all the way down to an interactive map that will show you the closest bathroom to your arrival gate. The newly redesigned site has real-time flight arrival and departure information, contacts and links to all of the airlines that fly in and out of the facility, ground transportation guides, on-site dining and shopping guides, travelers tips, and a lot more.
This Week's TriviaQ: When the Clark County Airport was renamed McCarran Field in 1948, how many flights per day did it average, and how many per day does McCarran International average now? ANSWER The Weekly Trivia Question is sponsored by the Online Memorabilia Museum at Vegas4Visitors.com
