Columbus, OH -- (Sports Network) - Columbus Crew midfielder Guillermo Barros Schelotto was voted as Major League Soccer's Player of the Week for Week 17 after scoring a goal and tallying two assists in a 3-3 draw with the Kansas City Wizards last Thursday.

After going down 2-0 to the Wizards in the opening 25 minutes, the Argentine playmaker scored off a free kick from 25 yards for Columbus' first goal in the 26th minute.

In the 33rd minute, Schelotto took a ball in full stride from Robbie Rogers and dribbled into the left side of the area. He then found Alejandro Moreno on a near-post run and Moreno was able to get a foot on the ball to knock it into the goal.

Schelotto completed his brilliant work on the evening in the 38th minute when his corner kick found a knifing Chad Marshall on a late run and his well-placed header found the upper right corner of the net to give Columbus the lead.

Schelotto has four goals and a team-high 10 assists this year, following up on last year's great debut season in MLS.

The Crew signed Schelotto in April 2007 and he joined the team after spending more than a decade in Argentina with legendary club Boca Juniors.

In 2007, he tallied five goals and a team-high 11 assists. He was the Crews Most Valuable Player last season and was named to the league's Best XI team.

This marks the fourth MLS Player of the Week award for Schelotto. He previously won the honor in Weeks 16 and 28 of the 2007 season and Week 3 of this season.
