Wallace Leads Frankfurt To Fourth World Bowl Title

(Sports Network) - The Frankfurt Galaxy became the first team in NFL Europe League history to win four World Bowls, as they bested the defending champion Amsterdam Admirals, 22-7, in World Bowl XIV on Saturday.

Running back Butchie Wallace was named MVP of the game, rushing for 143 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. Roger Robinson added 96 rushing yards as Frankfurt dominated on the ground with a total of 269 yards and two scores.

Down 7-2 at the halftime, the Galaxy responded in the second half and outscored Amsterdam 20-0.

Wallace's four-yard touchdown run off left tackle put the Galaxy in front for good, 9-7, with 4:22 left in the third quarter.

A pair of field goals by David Kimball extended the Frankfurt advantage to 15-7 and Wallace then sealed the game with a 63-yard scamper with under two minutes to go.

Wallace's long run set-up J.R. Niklos' 12-yard touchdown run with 1:06 remaining.

A former Marshall star, Wallace spent the last two seasons in training camp with the Minnesota Vikings.

Larry Croom paced the Admirals attack with 82 yards rushing and a touchdown. The running back also caught five passes for another 40 yards.

Amsterdam offensive guard Michael King was taken off the field on a stretcher after injuring his neck with 2:31 left in the game.

King was able to feel his extremities and was taken off only as a precaution.
