RENO, Nev. -- It was an ugly scene at the Aces Ballpark Saturday night. Between players and coaches, a total of 10 were ejected following a bench-clearing brawl between the Reno Aces and the visiting Albuquerque Isotopes.

Aces chief operating officer Eric Edelstein said the brawl is being taken very seriously by the organization. And he said unfortunately fights between players do happen, but not very often. “It’s not taken lightly, it’s not something we're okay with, and it will be handled professionally and appropriately,” said Edelstein.

Trash talking, pushing, and punches being thrown between players is what fans witnessed at the Aces Ballpark Saturday night. Words exchanged between Aces catcher Blake Lalli and an Isotopes batter led to the bench-clearing brawl. And at one point, players were pushed into the first row of stands. “There is very specific on field behavior policies, which clearly were violated, and the Pacific Coast League office has all the footage, they're reviewing it, and the proper suspensions and fines will be handed down,” said Edelstein.

Nine players and Reno Aces Manager Phil Nevin were ejected during the second inning. Edelstein says consequences are expected to be given out this week. “We should know shortly here, whether it’s today or tomorrow or the next few days, that was the last communication we heard from the Pacific Coast League office."

Edelstein wants to ensure baseball lovers that the Aces Ballpark remains a family-friendly environment. "It's kind of lightening in a bottle, it was an extremely rare situation. You could watch baseball for the rest of your life and come to a lot of games and never see anything like that, so no, it's not something we expect to see very often at all."

The Pacific Coast League was not able to comment.
