Rosy Chu

rosy_chuAs a proud San Franciscan native, Rosy Chu is happy that she landed her dream job at KTVU FOX 2. As the Director of Community Affairs and Public Service, she enjoys using the power of television to help inform and educate Bay Area viewers.

“I have the best of two worlds, working in television and blending it with community work and information. I considered going into social work when I graduated from high school and so now I’ve been able to do my own kind of social and community work using the power of journalism.”

“I feel that I’m both an ambassador for KTVU and a resource for the community, since I’m in touch with non-profit agencies, service groups and community interest groups that need to have access to the media to get out their important messages about social needs and issues.” Chu is able to do this work as the host/producer of the award winning Bay Area People, a half-hour weekly public affairs program and the director of KTVU’s Family 2 Family public affairs project stressing educational and community concerns.

Since joining KTVU in 1971, she has traveled throughout California, China and Australia, hosting and producing a number of documentaries. Chu also has hosted and produced a variety of public affairs programs including nearly four years as a news and talk show producer.

In 2005, Chu was inducted into the Silver Circle Club of the National Association of Television Arts & Sciences, NorCal Chapter.

Winner of a Northern California Emmy award, she has also been recognized by numerous community groups and national organizations including: the Take A Bigger Role Life Savers Video Excellence Award; the National Broadcasters Association Children's Television Award; N.Y. Film and Video Festival Awards, California School Boards Foundation Documentary Media Award, the California Teachers' Association Media Excellence Awards and American Women in Radio and Television.

Chu graduated from San Francisco State with a B.A. in Broadcast Communication Arts and enjoys being a Bay Area “foodie”. She hates to admit it, but she also enjoys traveling to softball tournaments with her husband, Rich and cooking and taking care of the family pet dog, who will soon be 21 years old.
