Fred Inglis joined KTVU FOX 2 as a sports reporter in 1992. Before moving to the Bay Area, he was the weekday sports director at KTVL and sports reporter for KTMT in Medford, Ore. Inglis received a B.A. from Michigan State and his M.A. in Radio and Television from San Francisco State.

His awards include the RTNDA Award for best sports program/special in 2007, an Emmy Award in 2007 for best "sports regularly scheduled" and a Telly Award in 2007 for the sports program "Bonds 715 - Making History." He has also been honored with the Associated Press Award for best live sports programming in 1991, the Associated Press Award for best sports feature in 1992 and a 1996 Emmy for outstanding achievement in a sports series.

"I love the diversity of my position, being able to develop all aspects of the department ... reporting, editing, writing, etc." Inglis said. "Sports used to be just scores and highlights, but I believe that viewers want to know more than that. Stressing the emotions of athletes makes them more human, more universal and we need to portray athletes as humans, not necessarily as heroes."

"I'm still amazed at the family atmosphere KTVU provides, despite its professional approach to news and sports. This is still the best station and the best area to cover sports. I'm so proud to be part of the team," he said.

Inglis is an avid golfer. His wife, Paula, is an elementary school teacher. Together they enjoy traveling, collecting music, and taking Luna, their Yellow Labrador, hiking and swimming.
