Amber Lee

Amber Lee is a staff reporter for KTVU FOX 2's "KTVU Channel 2 News at 6" and the award-winning "The Ten O'Clock News." She joined the KTVU news team in 1997 as a free-lance reporter. In November 2000 she became a staff reporter for the station. The diversity and unpredictability of reporting are among Lee's favorite aspects of her job: "One of the best things about being a journalist is not knowing what I'll be doing each day so life is never boring." As a reporter, Lee often witnesses historic events and life-altering moments. Says Lee, "I love being a reporter because I experience history in the making first-hand."

Although as a reporter it is often difficult to cover tragic events, Lee is at her proudest covering these hard-hitting stories and other "exclusives" for the station. Xiana Fairchield (the Vallejo child that was missing and later found dead), Cottonwood (a small town in California which waited more that twenty-years for a child killer/serial killer to face the death penalty), and interviews with the two attorneys involved in the deadly dog-mauling case in San Francisco rank among Lee's most challenging and rewarding moments as a reporter.

Born and raised in San Francisco, Lee attended Lowell High School and graduated from San Francisco State University with a B.A. in Broadcast Communication Arts. Prior to working at KTVU FOX 2, Lee worked for several broadcasting stations. Her first on-air job was in Reno, Nevada, where she worked as a reporter and backup anchor for the FOX affiliate then known as KAME. After only ten months there, she was hired as a reporter and backup anchor at KCCN, a CBS affiliate in the Monterey-Salinas-Santa Cruz area, where she spent three years.

Her next move was to San Francisco to work for KPIX as a general assignment reporter for a year and a half. After signing with KTVU FOX 2, Lee also worked as a correspondent for CNN out of their San Francisco Bureau.

Besides her talents as a news reporter, Lee speaks fluent Cantonese. In her spare time, Lee enjoys spending time with her husband and parents, working out, reading, and playing with her best friend "Nile," her Basenji dog.
