Kraig Debro
Kraig Debro became a full-time reporter for KTVU Channel 2 News in April of 2005. He joined the staff at KTVU/FOX 2 in March of that year as a freelance reporter for the morning newscasts. At the time of his promotion News Director Ed Chapuis said, "Kraig has done a terrific job. His ability to dig up new information in the early morning hours has helped keep our morning newscasts fresh for KTVU viewers."Prior to coming to KTVU, Debro worked as a weekday reporter/anchor at News 15 in Charlotte, North Carolina and was a reporter at KRON and BAYTV. Debro also worked as a reporter at WCBS-TV in New York, where he covered major breaking news including John F. Kennedy Jr.' s plane crash and the Amadou Diallo police shooting. From 1988 to 1993, Debro was a reporter at the NBC affiliate WITN-TV in Washington, North Carolina.Debro has received two prestigious awards: the Associated Press Award for Best New TV Reporter in 2003 and the McClatchy Prize for In-Depth Reporting in 1992.Debro is originally from the Bay Area and is an alumnus of San Francisco State and UC Berkeley. He worked as a teacher in the Oakland public schools for three years, where his mother worked and older brother now works.Debro is married and has a young daughter. His personal interests include playing baseball, basketball, and soccer, as well as the drums.
