Former Chief of Staff Scott Craigie passes awayRENO, Nev. -- Scott Craigie, the former chief of staff for Governor Bob Miller, died Tuesday. He was 68.Craigie was an advocate for seniors and children, and later became a popular lobbyist.Governor Miller remembered Craigie as a true public servant. "Scott Craigie devoted his life to helping others," Miller said. "Scott was recognized as the strongest Nevada advocate for seniors and those in need. None of the accomplishments from my early years as Governor, such as class-size reduction and establishing a Senior Advocate, could have been realized without his tireless efforts. Scott excelled when working with Nevada Legislators and was a beloved colleague, not just in our Cabinet but to all state employees."Scott Craigie always put others first and leaves behind a legacy of extraordinary public service."Governor Brian Sandoval released an statement on Tuesday, praising Craigie. "It was with great sadness today that I learned of the passing of my friend Scott Craigie," said Sandoval. "Scott was a remarkable man with a giant character, and he proudly served the citizens of Nevada in many ways. A Marine veteran of Vietnam, Scott carried himself as a gentleman and was truly respected by his peers. Kathleen and I would like to extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Scotts family and friends at this time."
