Kingsbury Grade re-opens after being closed due to nearby wildfireUPDATE: 6 p.m.MINDEN, Nev. -- The Douglas County Sheriff's Office reports that Kingsbury Grade has re-opened. The size of the wildfire has now been measured at 4.5 acres.Original: 3:30 p.m.MINDEN, Nev. -- Kingsbury Grade has been closed, due to a nearby wildfire.According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the closure is on the valley side to everyone except emergency personnel. At this time, they are asking the public to stay out of the area and residences in the area to be prepared to evacuate.Douglas County also said it is not clear as to how the fire started, or what direction flames are headed. The fire is quickly spreading in the dry brush and timber south of 1000 Kingsbury Grade on a mountain side. Fire crews quickly responded to the scene and along with air suppression are currently battling this fire. Hand Fire Crews have been called to respond to this fire as it in a remote area off Kingsbury.No evacuations have been made at this time, but again, they are asking residents to be prepared to do so. Numerous agencies have been called to assist with this fire including Tahoe Douglas Fire, Nevada Division of Forestry and the U.S. Forest Service.The fire is currently burning 5 acres, with 0% containment.
