Amazon warehouse moving from Fernley to Reno

RENO, Nev. -- Many residents have been wondering what is currently being built in Lemmon Valley off North Virginia Street.

Fox 11 learned Friday it is a new warehouse for Amazon. Their current distribution center in Fernley will move to the new location in Reno.

The new warehouse is located at 8000 North Virginia Street in Lemmon Valley. According to the project's website, it’s called the LogistiCenter 395. It’s a 91-acre, three-building, industrial park.

Dermody Properties broke ground on the first building in March. Once completed, the industrial park will be 1.2 million square feet.

Amazon Spokesperson Ashley Robinson emailed Fox 11 a statement Friday saying:

"Amazon remains committed to its fulfillment center employees in Northern Nevada. All Amazon employees will be offered the chance to work in our new fulfillment center in nearby Reno. We are excited for the investment we're making in this new building to fulfill customer orders."

Amazon said they are not able to comment when the new warehouse will open. However, the property website said estimated completion is summer 2014.
