Cadillac will make two major model introductions next year, one of the brand’s senior executives has revealed. They are a new flagship sedan and a redesigned version of the SRX midsize crossover.

The information was revealed to Bloomberg by Cadillac chief engineer Dave Leone. He said both will arrive on the market in late 2015, making them 2016 models.

We’ve already seen spy shots of prototypes for the new flagship sedan, which is expected to be called the LTS and be shown for the first time at the 2015 New York Auto Show next April, but this is the first time we’re learning of the redesigned SRX. The SRX is the General Motors Company [NYSE:GM] luxury brand’s most popular model, so there is a lot riding on the introduction of the new one.

Not much is known about the new SRX but we may see it grow in size. Cadillac recently dropped plans for a new crossover with third-row seats, so we may see the redesigned SRX get a third-row option instead. A bigger SRX would also make room in Cadillac’s lineup for a new compact crossover that could target the likes of the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, something that has been rumored.

Stay tuned for an update.
