Syrian Rebels Capture Taftanaz Military Airport
Amateur footage appears to show Syrian rebels celebrating the capture of a strategic air base in northern Syria. Taftanaz is the largest helicopter base in northern Syria and the second largest in the country and its loss further weakens President Bashar al-Assad's grip on the region. The months-long battle only ended after Islamist units provided reinforcement in early January. The video could not be verified independently by Reuters due to Syrian media restrictions.
