Victims of Algerian Hostage Crisis Return to Japan
A Japanese government plane carrying nine deceased and seven survivors of the Algerian hostage crisis returned to Tokyo on Friday (January 25) at 0648 local time (2148 GMT). Greeted at the airport by government officials and mourners, survivors were loaded into passenger vans and quickly transported away from the airport. Caskets of the deceased were ceremoniously unloaded from the cargo of the plane as those gathered paused for a moment of silence to honour the deceased.
